Was trying to think on why I have as a non-driver, such an appreciation/fascination with cars and where it all began?

Then it came to me..as a 4/5yr old boy in 70s East London I had [through a friend of the families hand me down] become the proud owner of a racing green 'lotus-esque' F1 peddle car. A toy not to dissimilar to the one pictured below although I was lucky enough to have chequered race flags adorning my mean green machine's bonnet.

Looking back this must have been a pivotal moment for me in terms of placing racing/cars firmly into my psyche. A fascination that continued throughout the 80s watching with my dad as Ayrton Senna in his Lotus 98T battled it out with other formidable Formula 1 competitors and racing legends in Piquet, Prost and Mansell.

Having worked with both ford engineering data extensively in the past and on the visualisation of Lotus innovations more recently I wanted my first offline project for some considerable time [and re-acquaintance with V-Ray] to involve those two automotive behemoths. So here it is; the Lotus 49 with its Cosworth-Ford DFV V8 engine in a studio setup. A vehicle driven by the mercurial Jim Clark, who the phenomenon Ayrton Senna himself dubbed the greatest racing car driver to ever have lived [high praise indeed!]
